Assam Government launches E Rickshaw Yojana 2025 for linguistic minority communities — Apply online before 30 December 2025

Under this initiative, selected beneficiaries will receive free e-rickshaws and mopeds, enabling them to generate sustainable income through commercial or app-based services. The scheme was implemented successfully last year and is being continued for 2025 with a fresh phase of online applications.

Objective for E Rickshaw Scheme Assam 2025 :

The key aim of this scheme is to empower linguistic minority individuals by creating opportunities for:

  • Self-employment
  • Sustainable livelihood
  • Economic upliftment
  • Encouraging eco-friendly transport
  • Through free e-rickshaws and mopeds, beneficiaries can earn through transportation, delivery services, and app-based platforms.

Eligibility Criteria of E Rickshaw Yojana Assam 2025 :

To apply for the scheme, the applicant must:

✔ Be a permanent resident of Assam
✔ Belong to a linguistic minority community, such as:

  • Bengali Hindus
  • Hindi-speaking communities
  • Other recognized linguistic minority groups (non-religious category)
    • ❌ Not be a member of the following religious minorities:
      Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Jain, Sikh, Parsi
    • ❌ Not belong to Scheduled Tribe (ST)

✔ Fall between the age of 25–50 years as on 01-01-2025
✔ Have household composite annual income below ₹3 lakh
No income certificate needed during online registration — required only after selection.

✔ Be able to drive the e-rickshaw/moped
Vehicle cannot be rented, leased, or sold for 3 years.

Who Should NOT Apply – Automatic Exclusion Categories :

The following applicants are not eligible:

  • Members of Panchayat Raj Institutions / Urban Local Bodies
  • Regular or retired Central/State Govt. employees
  • Central or State PSU/Autonomous Body employees
  • Professionals: Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, CA, Architects
  • Registered Govt. Contractors
  • Income tax payers
  • Farmer families owning more than 15 Bighas agricultural land
  • Household owning tractor, four-wheeler, or mechanized boat
  • Regular employees of Cooperative Societies funded by Govt.
  • Applicants must submit a self-declaration confirming they do not fall under these categories.

✔ Linguistic Minority Certificate
✔ Passport-size Photograph
✔ Income Certificate (only if selected)
