The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has released the official notification for admission into B.Ed. Programme, batch commencing from January 2026. In this regard, IGNOU will conduct an Entrance Test to be held all over the country. The minimum duration of the programme is two years. However, the maximum period allowed for completing the programme is five years.

Interested and eligible candidates can submit their online application in official application portal for the admission into Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) courses under IGNOU w.e.f. 29th January 2026.

Eligibility Criteria of IGNOU B.Ed Admission 2026 :

Age Limit: There is no age bar for admission into the Programmes of the University.

Educational Qualification for IGNOU B.Ed Admission 2026 :

Candidates with:

a) at least 50% percent marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree and/or in the Master’s Degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/Commerce/Humanities. Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto,

and

b) The following categories are eligible to be students of B.Ed. (ODL):
(i) Trained in-service teachers in elementary education.
(ii) Candidates who have completed a NCTE recognized teacher education programme through face-to-face mode.

Entrance Test: Candidate must clear the B.Ed. Entrance Test conducted by IGNOU.

Note: The students who have done their D.El.Ed programme simultaneously with their Graduation or Masters degree through whatever combination of modes, are not eligible for admission to IGNOU’s B.Ed programme.

Examination Fees for IGNOU B.Ed Admission 2026 :

Rs.1000/- should be remitted through payment gateway, using a Credit Card or a Debit Card issued by Banks in India or through online Banking.

How to Apply for IGNOU B.Ed Admission 2026 :

Interested and eligible candidates can submit their online application; provided they fulfill the eligibility criteria as specified by the university. Here is the basic steps one need to follow to submit the online application .

Step 1: Scroll down, check Important Links section.

Step 2: Click Online Application Form link. The official portal will be displayed.

Step 3: The Candidate needs to register by clicking the “Register” button and providing his/her name, mobile number and a password. The mobile number will be verified through an OTP. Please remember the password for login.

Step 4: After successful registration, the candidate needs to login using his/her mobile number and the password.

Step 5: Enter all personal and educational information as required.

Step 6: Pay examination fee as per your category and submit the form .

Step 7: Also, take a print of the submitted form .
