Selection Process for RRB Section Controller Recruitment 2026

The selection process for the RRB Section Controller Recruitment 2026 consists of multiple stages designed to assess candidates’ knowledge, aptitude and medical fitness. Candidates must successfully qualify each stage to move forward in the recruitment process.

1. Single Stage Computer Based Test (CBT)
2. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

Computer Based Test (CBT)

The CBT will be conducted for 120 minutes and carry 100 marks. It serves as the screening examination for shortlisting candidates for the next stage. The examination includes negative marking, where one-third (1/3) mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. Candidates will be shortlisted for the CBAT based on their normalized CBT scores.

Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

Candidates up to eight times the number of notified vacancies from each reservation category will be shortlisted for the CBAT based on their CBT performance. Applicants appearing in this stage must also produce the required Vision Certificate in the prescribed format. There is no negative marking in the CBAT, and candidates must qualify every test battery to be considered for final selection.

Document Verification & Medical Examination

The final merit list will be prepared by giving 70% weightage to the CBT score and 30% weightage to the CBAT score. Candidates shortlisted according to merit and preferred Railway zones will be called for Document Verification. After successful document verification, candidates will undergo the prescribed Medical Examination before appointment.
