Eligibility Criteria for UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2027

Candidates applying for the UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2027 must have attained 21 years of age and must not have attained 32 years of age on 1st January 2027. Accordingly, candidates must have been born not earlier than 2nd January 1995 and not later than 1st January 2006.

Educational Qualification for UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2027

The required qualification depends on the post and stream selected by the candidate. For Geologist and Assistant Geologist, candidates need a Master’s degree in Geological Science, Geology, Applied Geology, Mineral Exploration, Marine Geology, Earth Science, Petroleum Geosciences or Geochemistry. For Geophysicist, Assistant Geophysicist and Scientist ‘B’ Geophysics, an M.Sc. in Physics, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Exploration/Applied/Marine Geophysics is required. For Chemist, Assistant Chemist and Scientist ‘B’ Chemical, candidates require an M.Sc. in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry. For Scientist ‘B’ Hydrogeology and Assistant Hydrogeologist, a Master’s degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Marine Geology or Hydrogeology is required.

Application Fees for UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2027

Candidates belonging to the Female, SC, ST and PwBD categories are exempted from the application fee. All other candidates have to pay ₹200/-.

The selection process consists of three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Personality Test/Interview.
