The State Council for Technical Education (SCTE), Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Assam has released the official notification of Polytechnic Admission 2026 for admission into 3-year Diploma in Engineering and Technology Courses in State Government Polytechnics of Assam for the session 2026-27. The admission process in the State Government Polytechnics are carried out on the basis of marks obtained by students in H.S.L.C. examination or equivalent Examination with Mathematics and Science as compulsory subjects.

No. of seats in State Government Polytechnics are 4385 seats for 26 Nos. of different Diploma programmes. Interested and eligible candidates may register online till 10th May 2026.

Eligibility Criteria of Assam Polytechnic Admission 2026 :

Resident-ship: Candidates must be an Indian Citizen and a Permanent Resident of Assam. Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) must be produced at the time of Counseling. Otherwise his/her seat may be cancelled at any stage of his/her study. PRC holders of Assam are not eligible to apply under CGE quota even if their parents are Central Government employees. Candidates failing to specify their category at the time of online form fill-up will be considered as Unreserved.

Age Limit: Candidates’ age must be minimum 16 years as on 31st December 2026. There is no upper age limit for admission. Candidates must be born on or before 31st December 2010.

Physical Fitness: A candidate must be physically and mentally fit. Candidates will have to produce fitness Certificate at the time of admission from a registered medical practitioner (optional).

Educational Qualification for Assam Polytechnic Admission 2026 :

Candidate must pass the H.S.L.C. or its equivalent examination in single sitting with Mathematics and Science as compulsory subjects (without grace marks in Science and Mathematics). Candidates also must have passed individually in both Theory and Practical/ Internal Assessment examinations in Mathematics and Science.

Required minimum average percentage in Mathematics and Science is as mentioned below.

Application Fees for Assam Polytechnic Admission 2026 :

Applicants must pay a one-time, non-refundable application/registration fee of ₹300 (Rupees three hundred), along with any applicable taxes, through the online payment link. The application will be deemed complete only after the payment is successfully reflected on the portal.

Intending and eligible candidates who are permanent citizen of Assam may follow below mentioned steps to apply online for admission into Diploma Courses in the following State Government Polytechnics of Assam for the session 2026-2027.

Click on Register and and complete your registration process.
Next, Login to your account by entering your details.
Enter all your personal and educational details as required .
Upload your passport sized photograph and signature and other required documents.
Pay the application fees and at the end click on submit button .
Don’t forget to take a print of submitted application form .

Documents required for Assam Polytechnic Admission Application :

All candidates must present the following original documents for verification at the time of admission and submit self-attested photocopies of the same, along with two recent passport-size photographs bearing their signature.

Process of Councelling :

After the completion of the registration and application process, the documents uploaded by applicants will be verified. The counselling process will commence only after this verification is completed. Applicants may receive calls, messages, or emails on their registered mobile number or email address for clarification regarding any submitted information or documents. It is essential to respond promptly to such communications, as failure to do so may lead to the rejection of the application.

The broad outline of the counselling process is as mentioned below:

Seats will be allotted based on eligibility, rank, caste/category, preferences, and availability.
Candidates must accept the allotted seat through the portal and download the allotment letter.
Contact the admission coordinator of the allotted institution and report there on the specified date.
Physical verification of documents will be conducted at the allotted institution.
The institution will grant or cancel admission as per prescribed norms.
Candidates must choose either the “freeze” or “upgrade” option and inform the institution accordingly.
